European style interior design is generally deemed to be exclusive for luxurious apartment. However, recently a new Nordic style has emerged, which includes the elegance of European architecture without being too gorgeous. The simplicity of Nordic style is emphasised. Today, Deco-Man will show you the 500-sq.ft unit in Tai Kok Tsui, which has a gorgeous Nordic design!
Basic information
Harbour Green in Tai Kok Tsui / Saleable area 541 sq. ft. / Two bedrooms and two living rooms / Cost is about HK$700,000 million / Number of occupants 2 adults
The houseowners are a newlywedded couple who loves this light Nordic style, hoping that the style can be extraordinary and some dazzling points. They also hope to have special colours in the unit. The interior designer, Pian, specially chose the special purplish grey colour as the theme colour for them, creating an elegant style with the special tone.
Most of the furnishings this time are custom-made by the designer. In addition to the overall colour, a lot of attention has been paid to the details of the design.
Living room design: Natural light penetrates the corners space with floral line feature wall
Entering from the entrance, on the left hand side is a purplish grey custom-made cabinet. The upper half of the display shelf is set with a gold steel frame, and the soft light penetrates from the back. The lower half composes of a snow-white marble countertop and the purplish grey cabinet. The marble dining table in the front is an extension table, which can be opened from two sides increase the desktop space. The table top is white while the bottom is black, which adds an interesting layering to the vision when it is closed.
The living room was originally square in shape, with a slightly narrow impression and creates difficulty to the arrangement of furniture. In order to increase spaciousness, Pian chose a custom-made sofa with a short backrest to divide the living room and dining room with furniture to keep the space open. The sofa color has also been matched, which is mainly white with the theme colour of purple grey used on the bottom and back. This forms a line between the sofa and the dining room cabinet. The metallic feet of the sofa have light lines, which are in line with the concept of Nordic simplicity.
The TV feature wall in the front of the sofa is connected to the hidden door in the corridor. With grey colour as the background, simple European-style floral lines are added to form a wide feature wall. At the same time, it solves the feng shui problem of the doors facing each other. Adding a watercolour wallpaper behind the TV, surrounded by an elegant gold steel frame feels just like a hanging painting. This painting is actually a digital print wallpaper and can be replaced with different patterns in the future, which greatly increases the flexibility.
Kitchen design: Semi-open kitchen creates space and matches with overall design
The semi-open kitchen is well-designed. In order to enhance the sense of space, Pian widened the position of the kitchen door, half with fixed glass partitions, and half with glass sliding doors as partitions. The sliding doors are sealed behind the sliding door, which won’t be affected by the cooking fumes and the glass will not affect the extension of the space too. The kitchen countertop is U-shaped, extending all the way to the shoe cabinet in the living room. The coherent design connects different areas.
Bedroom design: Hidden doors create perfect large suite, noble characteristic wall adds to the beauty
The owner and his wife enjoy spending time together, so all behind the hidden door is their private space. The hidden door constructs the suite space, and the guest toilet on the corridor has become part of the suite. At the end of the corridor is the bedroom for the couple. The back wall of the bed is made of leather and gold steel lines that echo the theme of the living room to create a second characteristic wall. The leather extend to another small window sill, adding a resting area to the room.
Dressing room design: Double sliding doors flexibly change the use of space with sweet white tone
There are two other rooms in the bedroom, one of which is the dressing room. White is the main colour with white cabinets to create a soft feeling. At the same time, there are also dressing tables and other equipment for the hostess to dress up. The double sliding door design can be fully opened during ordinary days to maintain the sense of space in the bedroom. In the future, the couple can use this as a childcare room after having a baby, and they can close the door to keep the child in a peaceful environment.
Study design: Special wall increases harmony
The study also matches the theme, with purplish grey tones and gold steel lines as the main tone. The desk is also a custom-made design, and the front legs are made of a wide board with floral lines on the surface, which echoes with the cabinet. In order to make the most of the space, the desk is also spanned to the window sill to increase the surface area.
Bathroom design: Theme colour glass cabinet with elegant marble pattern design
The toilet is also elegant by using beautiful brick surfaces with two different marble patterns to pave the wall, floor and washbasin surface. After thorough consideration, a durable and elegant glass was selected as cabinet doors, matching the theme colour as a whole.
Thoughtful design: Simple and elegant accessories are important for Nordic style
The design showed us that if we use furniture and major decoration to divide the home area, the sense of space can be enhanced. Colours and materials can then be used to create style. Designer Pian mentioned that the Nordic style should be shaped with soft decorations too. Therefore, she carefully selected a variety of simple and elegant home furnishings.
Whether it’s curtains, cushions, lamps, light switches, and decorative objects such as dinner plates, paper holders, flower bottles, etc. They all add to the neat and beautiful Nordic style, which greatly enhance the elegance of the overall design.
