How to Clean Your Newly-Renovated Home (2)

Table of Contents

After cleaning the kitchen and the bathroom, you are probably exhausted and have to take a break.

For the bedrooms and the living room, though there are fewer separated components to clean, still you have to make sure the dust in these places are completely cleared away. This is because you and your family are going to spend the majority of your time in these areas.

Here’s part two of the newly-renovated home cleaning guide.

What you’ll need

  • Face masks
  • Gloves
  • Towels
  • Cutter knife
  • Mops
  • Spatula
  • Glue remover
  • Brooms
  • Detergent for specific materials
  • A vacuum cleaner

Living room and bedrooms

For the living room and the bedrooms, here are the items you should give a thorough scrub on: lights, switches, vents, and air-con blowers. Use a vacuum cleaner for these items.

For the wall, use a towel, a duster or a vacuum cleaner to remove all the dirt from the flat surfaces.

Doors and door frames

First, you have to determine the materials of the doors and the frames. Use specialised cleaners for each individual material. Fold the towel into a square, then wipe from left to right, top to bottom. Try not to miss any spots.

For glue stains, you can purchase a glue remover to clear the stains.

Flooring and skirting boards

After all that cleaning, here comes the final stage.

When it comes to flooring, make sure you are using the suitable cleaner for your flooring materials. Wood flooring is not able to withstand the abrasion of a ceramic tile cleaner. The acidity of some cleaners might cause harm to stone flooring materials.

For glue stains on the floor, you can use the blade of a cutter knife for scraping. Be gentle with it if your flooring material is wood.

For skirting boards, you can also use a cutter knife to remove any glue stains. Use a towel to wipe down all the boards and the final stage is completed!

Remember to check the entire house for missed spot after cleaning. Only after making sure the house is completely clean, should you bring in any extra furniture.
