The use of PTFE Tape
In this video, I will keep sharing some useful tips for home renovation.
Today, I will talk about the PTFE tape.
What is it and when to use it?
Where do we usually see the PTFE tape?
You can see it in the hardware shop for sure.
But at home,
You may find it on the connect tap of the washing machine or the faucet in the bathroom.
Now, I will show you how to use the PTFE tape.
Let say this is a connect tap of the washing machine that is installed on wall.
Turn the water switch off and loosen the connect tap, then you will see the PTFE tape.
Firstly, you need to remove the old PTFE tape.
Remove all the old PTFE tape.
If you find it difficult to remove it,
you can use a cutter to remove the PTFE tape.
Give it a few cuts then you will be able to tear away all of the tape easily.
After removing the old PTFE tape, you will need cover it with new PTFE tape.
However, for some faucet that is in poor quality,
the adapting finish is unsmooth.
If you wipe it or twist it,
It may hurt your hands. You need to be careful with it.
This is the most common type of PTFE tape you can find on the market.
How do we use it?
Under normal circumstances, you will tear the tape in horizontal way.
But for PTFE tape, you will need turn it upside down.
Stick the tape on the faucet clockwise,
for about 20-30 rounds.
But it depends on the accessories that you are using.
Alright. Done. Tear it off.
You cannot install the faucet directly without
giving it a rub with your hands.
The faucet will look a bit puffy.
Then you can install the faucet to its original place now.
The PTFE tape will fill in the gap and there will be no more water leakage.
If you find there is water leakage
in the connecting faucet of the washing machine,
you can try this method to solve the problem.
