Hi, welcome to Deco Sister’s Home Hack.

I am Deco Sister.

Hong Kong is a very crowded place.

The apartments are compact.

The streets and roads are just right outside our home.

There is so much noise coming from different places.

Such as the noise of playing mahjong,

and the traffic noise.

How can we keep a quiet environment at home?

The formal way is to build

A soundproof wall.

Or install acoustic baffles on the existing wall.

However, both are unrealistic options.

You may not want to spend big on

changing a fashionable living room

to a soundproof room similar to a music room.

As the sound waves will reflect when hitting the obstacles,

and it spreads when encountering the materials with many pores,

we can use some DIY methods to handle this problem.

The first handling area is the bedroom door.

The bedroom door is usually hollow.

Thus, the sound waves will keep reflecting when hitting the door.

And the gap between the door and the floor will transmit noise as well.

The solution is to stick the soundproof foam stickers

on the surfaces of the door

to diffuse the sound waves.

And stick the sound insulation strip to block anywhere that can transmit noise through the door.

This method can greatly improve the soundproof effect of the door.

The second area tackle is the wall.

The soundproof quality of a concrete wall is better.

If you use other materials to build a partition wall,

In addition to stick the soundproof foam stickers,

you can reduce the noise by hanging the paintings on wall.

If it allows, you can put a bookshelf or other furniture in front of the wall

to block the sound wave.

The last area is the window.

It is best to use multilayered soundproof windows.

Otherwise, blocking the noise from the street can be difficult.

Or you can put a thick curtain in front of windows to block the noise.

Pay attention that

the soundproof curtain and soundproof foam stickers

will affect the lighting.

This is the end of the video.

See you next time.

Bye.
